Meet the team!

Market at the Mill is a bi-annual event that takes place in the spring and fall at the Cottonseed Oil Mill.  The Mill dates back to 1900 and operated until 1979.  It was largely vacant and unused until 2011, when the City of New Roads restored the building to host the first annual Market at the Mill, organized by the Founder, Betty Fontaine.  The event so successful that it is now a biannual shopping extravaganza that has grown to 135 vendors, attracting up to 5,000 visitors throughout the weekend.  Mrs. Fontaine was the Event Coordinator from 2011-2023.  All proceeds from Market at the Mill are allocated towards the restoration and maintenance of The Mill.    In addition, fifteen percent of those proceeds will benefit the Pointe Coupee Historical Society.

Beginning in the Summer of 2023, Mindy LaCour became the Event Coordinator of Market at the Mill.  The market team is made up of many volunteers and staff.  Meet the fun crew!
